A Sunny and Seasonal Thanksgiving Day Planned

Published: 11.22.17 7:40am

Good Morning Folks! This will be a short and sweet forecast discussion today as there is not much to talk about weather wise as fair conditions reign supreme through the week and weekend. We did pick up a tenth of an inch in a few spots over the past 24 hours and we don’t expect any more rain for the rest of the week or weekend for that matter. The models do try and bring some moisture into the region Saturday but we are not biting just yet and have instead gone with partly cloudy skies. Temps will be seasonal for the most part, with the coldest day and night likely to be Sunday into Monday. Snowmaking chances return Saturday night and wane a bit Sunday, but return Sunday evening and linger into the mid – late morning hours on Monday. All in all, a pleasant holiday week and weekend this year with no weather issues for those traveling into the region or leaving for the piedmont.

Mostly sunny skies will dominate the next 5 days, with partly cloudy skies on Saturday being the only wrinkle in the otherwise calm and quiet forecast. Temps will rise to the mid 40’s – upper 50’s today and cool down to the mid 40’s – mid 50’s for Thanksgiving, however they’ll rise to the low 50’s – low 60’s for both Friday and Saturday. Temps will drop noticeably on Sunday as they struggle to rise past the low 40’s – low 50’s with a gradual warming trend heading into next week. Overnight lows for the most part will dip into the low – upper 30’s each night, however Sunday night will bring temps down into the mid 20’s – low 30’s as a front swings through the region. This front may bring a few flurries to the TN line, but other than some passing clouds for the rest of SW NC, this front will sweep across the area with little fanfare.

Overall, sunshine today through Monday with a few periods of passing clouds and temps that are somewhat seasonal, with noticeable drop in temps by Sunday. ENJOY!
